China Update June 15th

Well we went to the orphanage today. What an
emotional experience and one that will not forget for
a very long time. Mia was in Foster Care for the 3
months of her life and then the last five months in the orphanage. We
went into a meeting room and first meet with some
officials and had water and watermelons. The orphanage
director told us about the institute it is also a
seniors home as well it was very clean. We then got to go to
where Mia stayed. It was in room 209 we were able to
take as many pictures and videos that we wanted. Itoo was raised at that house number so that was a little fraky. We
met the Nanny who cared for Mia. She has her bed on
one side and four babies that she cares for on the
other side of the room. It was a incredible
experience and could see the love that this woman had
for Mia as well as the other workers in orphanage. We got a lot of video and
pictures. After visiting with the Nanny we got the
dress that Mia was found in it was a tattered old red
dress that had 2 or 3 holes in it. We then went out
with the Orphanage Director for a local lunch at the
Hotel, it was of local cuisine and was amazing food.
We had all kinds of different foods, lotus root which
tasted like a warm cucumbers but it was good, they had dried fish actually
minnows (but they tasted like Salt and Vinegar Chips)
Deb did not have any as they still had there heads on,
rice noodles, and a fish of some kind that was
incredible, Sweet and Sour Ribs, Pepperred Vegatable
root, Dumplings - excellent- , snow peas, sweet potato
noodles and Watermelon for dessert we also had the
local Nanchang beer . For all of that it cost us 45
yuan a person or 7 dollars canadian a person. What an
amazing day. Mia is doing great she likes to sleep on
the bus, oh yeah we have some great footage of the
traffic , the rice fields and just a look at rural
China it was amazing.
